'Io, a Polynesian idea.
As some of you know, in the beginning my politics was focused on the
restoration of Hawaiian spirituality. Of the latter, at that time, I
wasn't conscious of this fact and worst of all I was politically and
not spiritually focused. Anyhow, as the consequence of listening to
the "Jesus Hour" on KCIF last Wednesday, I've finally found my
way back to my original position of not so long ago.
The key ideas that awakened my Hawaiian spirituality focus was the
ideas that Pastors Fred Ka'awa'a (sp ?), from Central Union Church
in Hilo, and another, what sounded like a younger Hawaiian, pastor's
reflection on the time before the Order of Ku overthrow of the Order of
Kane. The key idea that I'm focusing on is the Polynesian idea of
'Io.
It is my opinion that if there is to be a Hawaiian Renaissance, it will
be founded on this Hawaiian spirituality, namely, 'Io.

ps
It seems to me that a Bible study group, using the Hawaiian Bible, the
1927 edition for Pastor Ka'awa'a, would certainly aid in the awakening
of this 'Io Hawaiian spirituality. In addition to this, the Hawaiian
language would also experience a renaissance - no?
