Default KHPR/KIPO

HA! I do the same in my car. At home I can't get KIPO in the house. I
know if music comes on my clock radio I have way overslept!

Have you noticed that on weekend afternoons both stations are playing the same feed?

I dunno. Whichever, I sure wish they'd improve the signal of KIPO. I bet
there are quite a few of us switching back and forth to our favorite
news/info programs.

Default KHPR/KIPO (was: KHPR-FM)

Unlike other tightly formatted radio stations, KHPR/KIPO are not bound
to ratings so they pretty much can program anything they please as long
as the donation stream does not dry up. Apparently people like the
stations as is enough to keep them going in the present formats. If the
donations and funding were to dry up, I am sure HPR would try a
different program mix to pay the bills and stay alive.

If you like only talk all day and all night, there is always KHVH 830 AM
and KHBZ AM 990... The talk is great, though may be too conservative for
bleeding heart liberals. If you like Rick Hamada, Rush Limbaugh, Mike
Savage, Art Bell, George Nori (the latter 2 not being political show
moderators), then you'll like KHVH or KHBZ.

Probably the ones who give the most money to HPR.

Me, too! But not just for news/info programs. Michael Lasser's
wonderful weekly hour of American theatre music is too late for me to
listen on Saturday evening, KHPR, so I catch the repeat on KIPO
Sunday afternoon at 4 (usually with static).

I also wish KIPO would do the repeat of "Prairie Home Companion"
earlier on Sunday instead of echoing KHPR's 6-8 Saturday slot.

I also wouldn't mind at all if KIPO would move the BBC news
Mon-Fri broadcast back an hour, to start at 6 instead of 7 pm.

As for what started this thread, the new transmitter is giving
flawless reception for KHPR in Ala Moana Shopping Center, upstairs
at the end of Sears. So I guess I'll just get a sunburn on the
afternoon of March 6th.

Judy wondered:

Metropolitan Opera broadcast. Renee Fleming, the most stylish and
dazzling soprano since Maria Callas, is singing "La Traviata". I'm even
going to buy a recording device to (shhhh!) make a private bootleg.

(I'm sure I will be one of millions doing so.)

Okay, a bit off-topic for s.c.h. but if you think we have some wonderful
singers here, and we do, just listen awhile to Fleming. (I wonder if Amy
will.)
