Default Letter to Editor in Star Bulletin

In the online version of the Star, I saw a Letter to the Editor from
Lisa
Noelani Robbins. She said, "Hawaiians have historically and
systematically
been invaded and oppressed. " Is she including the Tahitians that make
up
most of the Hawaiian blood that exists today when she makes that
statement?
They invaded the islands and oppressed (killed, etc., ) the "original"
Hawaiians. She talks of "our rights as indigenous people." At what
point
in history does "indigenous people" start to apply? The "original"
Hawaiians before the Tahitian "invaders"? The Tahitian's who were not
the
"original" ones? Or is being being selective and only wanting to
consider
Causasians to be invaders and oppressors. It seems that some of the
rulers
on the islands were pretty much oppressors -- always warring among
themselves, requiring human sacrifices (usually from conquered groups
on the
Hawaiian Islands, and, if not enough of the conquered were available,
sacrificing a woman of the "non-conquered" group). I hope she's
including
all the invaders and oppressors, else she may be exhibiting a racist
attitude.
