Are people in Iraq now free to convert to other religions and build
Christian protestant churches?

If no, when?

Thanks!

yes...in fact, it is mandatory. Under the new "Who Wants to Marry A
Christian " law (and soon to be tv series) Iraqis have 2 months to accept
Jesus Christ as their personal saviour and each town must have at least 2
Protestant churches. Because America is a free and democratic country,
Iraqis will have a choice between the correct Southern Baptist faith or the
more liberal (and thus less correct) Pentecostal faith.

Mike T,
They didn't believe us before the war. Doubt that many people still
understand that Iraq was not under strict Islamic control under Suddam
Hussien. Many don't even realize he was an athiest...
There were many lies told before the war( and a few after).
So much lying to justify a war and I don't just mean WMDs.
I wonder how many Americans are aware that it was the USA refusal to
loosen the very tight oil of food sanctions that was starving the
people of Iraq.
A visit to the Human Rights website in their 2003 report will confirm
this.
Now America is telling the world that the UN were the bad guys with
the sanctions.
Iraq had less than $2 per person per day to buy food and medicines
with...and of course much of the medicine was disallowed because it
may be used in chemical weapons.
And now the same staements they used for Iraq are now being used
again....just replace Iraq with Iran.

It's all about the oil.........

Little more than a nominal Muslim, IMO. He was a regular drinker and
brawler in his young days, may have been a womanizer, and Saddam's inner
circle are big-time major league boozers. All that is no-no in Islam.
There are many nominal Muslims in Iraq, including rural Shiites. This
was even the case 60 years ago. It was not uncommon in the rural Shia
south for rural men to drink alcohol every single day, though they may
take Ramadan off. And anti-clerical sentiment in the Shia zone has been
strong for 50 years or so, when many younger people noticed the
long-standing hypocrisy of many Shia rulers. For instance, they would
take in young female "runaways" in the mosques and have sex with them
out of wedlock. Also thy abused the money the faithful gave to the
church. Many Shia clergy have long been regarded as corrupt.

As of 6-24-03, in the past 96 days, since the start of the MIP*, the US
has suffered 1,144 casualties in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan,
Djibouti, Colombia, Israel, Palestine, Pakistan, Yemen, and Jordan - 231
killed, 910 wounded, and 3 POW; or 11.9 casualties and 2.4 killed per
day. For the MIP*, there have been 1,049 US casualties, 1,041 Crusaders
and 8 civilians - 205 killed and 844 wounded, or 10.9 casualties and 2.1
killed per day. The British have suffered 46 killed or missing - 43
British Crusaders were killed; 1 British civilian was killed and 2 are
missing; the British Crusader wounded tally is unknown. A rough though
incomplete estimate of Iraqi civilians murdered in cold blood by the
Crusaders is 7,246. There were 63 US casualties in the past 11 days, 10
killed and 53 wounded. 50 of the 63 casualties were in the MIP*.

A good analogy for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict would be a teenager
(Israel) killing a kitten (the Palestinians) with a hammer, with the
American press reporting on the horrific, monstrous scratching and
biting ("Palestinian terrorism") inflicted on the poor victimized boy by
the kitten in its frothy, howling, frenzied death throes.
