Colleague: U.K. Scientist Feared Iraq War

But is that all he feared?

Associated Press presents the background:

Kelly...said [to his colleague that] he had been
urging his Iraqi contacts to allow full inspec-
tions to avoid the threat of attack,

but the Iraqis feared that if they disclosed too
much about their state of readiness, they might
become more vulnerable....

"My impression [the colleague says] was that he
felt he was in some personal difficulty or embar-
rassment about this because he felt the invasion
might go ahead anyway and somehow it was putting
him in a morally ambiguous situation"....

"As David Kelly was leaving, I said to him, `What
do you think will happen if Iraq is invaded?'

"His reply was...`I will probably be found dead
in the woods.'"

This colleague thought Kelly "might have meant that
he was at risk of being attacked by the Iraqis in
some way."

As it turned out,

KELLY-KILLER BLAIR

got to him first.

AP reports Blair's victim:

...was found dead July 18 at the edge of a clump
of woods near his rural home.

The Master in Washington is concerned that The Poodle
might break when he testifies August 28th before the
Hutton inquiry.

The Poodle's now the one at risk of being attacked.

The newsstory is datelined Thursday, August 21, 2003.
