Transparency and Accounting - Money and Gold found in Iraq
In one of the posted messages, I read something about the plundering
of Iraq's wealth. I also watched a movie "the Three Kings" with George
Clooney, and wonder if that can be real. Just for a curiosity, I
wonder if anyone has done any accounting on the values of money and
gold that the coalition forces found in Iraq after the war. Is there a
report (media or official) which clearly lists the values of all of
the money/gold found or stashed in Iraq? I recall that after the war,
we keep hearing that the coalition forces found billion dollars here
and there. There were news that some were confiscated as they were
being smuggled out of the country. Then I heard about the gold which
were found were actually copper (who knows, it may be real gold and
ended up in someone's pocket?). Where are these monies and gold now?
Who has been keeping track of them? Have they been spent daily to
support the occupation forces ? Are they spent on the infrastructure
building of Iraq? or are they spent for the new "Iraqi government"?
In the west, transparency and accounting are important. I would be
interested to see a list of the iraqi wealth and their values
(including those which were confiscated from western banks that once
belong to the fallen government, or the ones that stashed in the
palaces, etc). Does anyone have a website or know one that provide
such a list?
Just curious! After all, we all demanded that Iraq provided a list of
their WMD stuff before the war, and accused them of not doing a good
job , ie. transparency and accounting of those things.
