Sober Scotchmen drink whisky because it is mostly water, but drunken
Scotchmen drink whiskey, because it is the real stuff!

Bede wrote in Old German. "Northumbria" does not sound very German does it.

Didn't Bede write his history in Latin??? I'm not sure about the Irish
Annals but I take it if it wasn't Latin then it was Old Irish. Old German
indeed! You always give us a laugh though........keep it up!

According to Allan Connochie <conno@conno.greatxscape.net>:

How many times do we need to go over this, he wrote it in bleedin
Geordie. Look, since Bede's the only famous person from my home-
town of Jarra I feel a bit sensitive about all this "German" or
"Latin" nonsense.

Mard: "German prostitutes... bloody hell! Its obviously a part-time job. During
the day they're lumberjacks or Russian weightlifters. We we're in this bar, the
door flies off its hinges, and this "thing" walks in dressed in red fishnets. I
thought it was a phone box at first. But phone boxes are smaller and not as
wide. It picks up two sailors, one under each arm and waddles off."
Dread: "So 'im run out to de fancy dress shop, innit? An 'im am buying de
sailor's outfit. An 'im go back in de bar, an 'im wait. Innit?"

No, he wrote in Old German, which loonies describe as Old English.

German is German, which can only be denied by a loony, and most people who
speak German are Germans. Boggie
