Visit the site for working hyperlinks. Geoghan's crimes are despicable and how the Catholic Church defended him is beyond reproach. "Geoghan often targeted boys from broken homes, ingratiating himself during frequent visits or fun outings. One victim said Geoghan molested him as the two were driving home from getting an ice cream cone. Others said Geoghan molested them after visiting their rooms at bedtime to tuck them in, sometimes while whispering prayers." Unsurprisingly, many are enjoying some schadenfreude because of his murder. Its almost understandable, these untouchable men of faith are finally being exposed for what they are: common criminals even after the backing and support of an organization with billions of dollars and membership measured in billions. Worse, sick men go into these holy professions to carry out these crimes and the Catholics welcome anyone willing to be "celibate" for Mr. Make Believe in the Sky. But there is a real downside here. Now that its been established that pedophile priests might be killed in prison, its certain that the Catholic church will continue to empty its coffers into the bank accounts of better lawyers and do more to cover-up these collar-wearing child molesters' crimes. Also, expect bigger "hush money" settlements and "forgiving" DAs and judges giving only slaps on the wrist. This is a sad day for those of us who believe in justice. As its been established time and time again, the death penalty is not a working deterrent, so this won't put a chill on Catholic pedophiles, but it might make them be more careful knowing that their prison term may be a de facto death sentence. On a related note 160 priests are asking Rome to relax the rules on celibacy. Of course it won't happen soon, if ever, but they are doing the right thing. By allowing priests to act like healthy homo sapiens they won't find other outlets for their natural sex drive and it will keep away those who would use this job as a cover to abuse children. Will the Catholic rank and file notice? Will they care? Something tells me no. These people need another Martin Luther. -- Mike Block web ads http://everythingisnt.com/hosts.html |
