Well, he's gone now and thank God the tories have elected or soon will elect
that scumbag Howard to keep them in the dark for another number of years.
How could anyone with even half a brain want that lying git to be their
leader.........the mind certainly boggles!

Default Irish acronyms and abbreviations


My understanding is that the word "Tory" comes from the Irish word tòir -
pursuit
Under Plantation Irish families were evicted and replaced by English
settlers and driven from their homes to bog and fern. Much the same happened
in Scotland. They were persued much in the was native populations in
America and Australia were hunted down. But plantation failed in all but
one part of Ireland. Elsewhere e.g. Tasmania ALL native populations were
eliminated. Anyway, the persued (The "Tories") would be people who did not
support the establishment whigs. It belies their identity as the
Conservative "establishment" party.

Then again where does "whig" come from?
