Though thats the point. There is new new king. The US and UK are
trying to establish a limited democracy that will avoid the creation
of a muslim state and stem the increasing number of anti western
muslim controlled states. Taking down Saddam was the easy part,
putting in government that can be influenced by the US, acceptable to
UN nations, acceptable to the public in western nations, the Iraqi
people (including the remnants of the Baath party) and Arab nations.
This would be a hell of an achievment however near impossible and the
reality is executing Saddam will not help this at all.

History shows that the US and UK governments protect their puppets for
example Pinochet and the reality is the new kong of Iraq will be a
puppet of the US with a government similar to Saudi Arabia.
