Default McDonald's becomes latest victim of the "Kosher Nostra Scam

That's a joke. Firstly I've never heard anyone knowledgeable in nutrition consider McDonald's
anything but high fat and calorie junk food. Secondly, while fast and convenient it is hardly
the choice food of the destitute. One can buy much more and much better food at the supermarket
for the same price.

Which is false in its entirety. Either Ernesto Cienfuegos
did not research the article and was writing fiction; or he
is a libellous liar.

This is for the the conspiracy jackasses who repeatedly post
articles claiming that Kosher certification is a Jewish scam.

When I post lists of products where the Kosher labelled
product is the same price as the same product without
certification, they say I lie. Of course being the liars
they are, they would expect all others to be the same.

The following article consists of a study by a marketing
research organization, with a different perspective on the subject.

America has gone kosher — shrewd manufactures are reaping
the profit$

A new report by a leading "consumer intelligence" firm has
found that as many as 28% of Americans buy kosher food
products because they are kosher.

The report, part of a comprehensive study in marketing
trends, was conducted by Mintel International Group Ltd. It
is noteworthy, because it underscores the
importance to manufacturers of kosher supervision as an
inexpensive marketing tool.

"The 28% of respondents who say that they ever buy kosher
products are likely to do so with the full knowledge that
the product that they are buying is kosher, and with the
intention of buying a kosher product. But it is likely that
if more of the respondents were aware of the kosher symbols
on many of the top brands, this percentage would be higher,"
notes the report. It adds that "the 28% response rate is
important, since the percentage of consumers most likely to
be prime buyers of kosher products (e.g. observant Jews) is
significantly lower. Therefore, it can be inferred that the
market for kosher products is much larger than would have
been expected."

As I've said you can spend it much better at a supermarket than at McDonald's. For example a
can of tuna is 55 cents at Stater Bros, add a bagel and you've got lunch.

Sense from what point of view. The food is expensive and of poor quality, if you're talking
Mcdonalds.

There is price competition now - lot of sandwiches for a dollar now.

And their food tastes good. Look at the number who choose to buy it.

So you can get half a days calories for a couple bucks. Will you have
a balanced meal? No. But I hear many poor Americans have unbalanced
diets homeless or not.

Look - I just butted in to correct an error - that the homeless don't
have ANY money. Many - maybe most for all I know - work.

I mostly agree with you. I lived in San Diego in an area where the homeless were buying cheap
Chinese takeout food. It's probably a step better than Macdonalds. However many of the homeless
are mentally ill and social misfits, and not exactly rational in their choice of diet.
