Default Disgraceful democracy of India

SHAME ON ALL INDIANS!! SHAME ON US!! It is not a day for celebrating -
it is a day for hanging our heads in shame! After being liberated from
the European conquerors over half century ago, we have allowed
ourselves to be ruled once again by a foreigner! Four hundred years
ago, the Europeans entered the country and ruled the country because
of all the in-fighting among Indians. The same has happened again. We
Indians have allowed ourselves to be ruled by a foreigner because of
all the political in-fighting and lack of cooperation.

SHAME ON THE CONGRESS, MOST OF ALL!! Its bad enough that they won the
elections; but what is worse is that they cannot even find a single
Indian to head the country. They have to go and settle on a foreigner
- that too, a stranger who drifted into this country by accident, and
knows virtually nothing about this country, its history and culture,
and doesn't give a DAMN about it. Yet, all the congress fellows fawn
over her, and eagerly express their willingness to endorse her as the
prime minister, thus selling their own and the country's self-respect
and dignity to a foreigner. Shows the low level to which our country
has stooped to. We have become the laughing stock throughout the
world. [ It took everything to keep me from slugging a westerner, who
happened to be also watching the election result, when he grinned and
jocularly said, ‘hey, it finally looks like an Italian is going to
rule India. Maybe next time, we Irish will get a chance…" ]

Don't tell me that the Congress doesn't have one single worthy person
to head the country! Speaks volume about the absurdity of the Congress
as a party. Even the BJP supporters and other party supporters can be
consoled to some extent, if at least an Indian, say Manmohan Singh,
Chidambaram, or Pranoy Mukherjee, became the head. Has none of the old
congress stalwarts have any shame, allowing a foreigner to head their
party and the country?? At least one thing can be said about M.K
Gandhi, whatever might have been shortsightedness about secularism ,
he would NEVER have allowed, endorsed, or approved of a westerner
ruling India. His soul must be spinning around at the plight of India
now – he and others battled hard for India's freedom from the clutches
of westerners, only to be ruled again by a westerner. WHAT AN IRONY!!!
WHAT A DISGRACE!!!

It is true that Vajpayee didn't campaign hard enough, given his frail
health. But what happened to all the other BJP candidates – they all
seemed equally passive, lethargic, and unwilling to fight hard for the
party. Not one BJP person was able to speak cogently, clearly, and
strategically to the point about the party's efforts and plans, other
than going on lame defense, in the political debates in the
television. Nearly all the Congress candidates and spokespersons were
suave, sophisticated, very articulate, and knew exactly when and where
to attack with their points. Its not enough that a political party
means well – it has to be able to convey its views tactfully and
clearly, and intelligently. One couldn't help cringing with
embarrassment and frustration each time a BJP candidate opened his
mouth to say something, because he could not come to the point and
portray the party in the best of light. Congress exaggerated about
everything and got away with it, especially in the international
media, whereas most of them time the BJP person looked and sounded
like a doodh-walla (milkman) - no charm, no charisma, no eloquence –
none of the things that matter to the middle-class, and especially not
to the rural poor, who by the way will vote for anyone, even a donkey
that wanders in from nowhere, as long it promises them hope and looks
like a movie star [ to most rural poor Indians, Antonia Maino looks
like some movie star, and as some of the rural women gushed – bahuth
gori-gori hai (she's very white (fair)]. What else can one say, except
that the overwhelming illiterate, poor, and ignorant ( and this is not
including the psecs and the pseudo-psecs) are ultimately what matters
in Indian politics – target them, and even the DEVIL/SATAN can win –
after all, Antonia Maino just did.
