Real quick background, Henry Cuellar was the Texas politico who had been
former Secretary of State, resigned, then ran for U.S. Congress last year in the new districts drawn by the Republican majority in the Texas Legislature (Cuellar is a Democrat). He lost the election by a very narrow margin, demanded the usual recount, and during the recount hundreds of pro-Cuellar ballots amazingly appeared, ballots that for reason had been missed in the original count. For some reason all the newly-discovered ballots were for Cuellar and none for his Democratic primary opponent, a stroke of luck as it allowed the original results to be overturned and declare Cuellar the winner. And while Cuellar was among the chorus of Democrat voices calling for the zillionth recount of the Florida 2000 ballots, after this single recount that gave him his victory Cuellar suddenly believed that the law prohibited further recounts. According to reports the man was using a known female's identity and exhibiting her pictures on the Internet. Several **** photographs were allegedly recovered as part of the investigation. Cuellar issued a statement Thursday, saying authorities notified him Wednesday morning that a staff member in his district office in San Marcos had been arrested for identity theft. Shortly thereafter the employee, identified as Jason Roller, was terminated. "We will not tolerate anyone who is under a cloud of suspicion when it Roller had been employed at the San Marcos office for six months. He served as a liaison for Cuellar. Cuellar called it an "isolated incident" that was "extremely unfortunate." He further assured his remaining staff would continue to diligently serve his constituents in the 28th Congressional District.
