Hello,
I was about 10 years ago for holiday in New Zealand and spend their some weeks during the month of July. Winter-time in New Zealand so. One day I traveled with a domestic flight from Christchurch to Auckland. During this flight I saw a strange looking mountain peak. Situated somewhere in the southern tip of North Island (neighbourhood of Wellington?) The peak was covered with snow, but surrounded by an inner circle with no snow and with an outer circle with snow again. It was magnificent to see this natural feature form a height of 10 km in the plane. I included a copy of this picture on the site: http://www.euronet.nl/users/kneve/NewZ.htm - Can somebody tell me which mountain this could be. - And what could be the background of this strange spread of snow coverage over the mountain hills. Thank you for the information. Best regards: Kees Neve, the Netherlands. -- ________________________ | Kees Neve | email: kees@neve.to | Weather site: | www.euronet.nl/users/kneve |

The mountain is called Taranaki. This is also the name of the province. More photos and info here ... http://www.taranakinz.org/destinatio....cfm?pageid=68 (BTW that's a superb photo!) Peter |
