Yes, just been listening to some online clips. Its was the first sort of
music I remember. My dad was in to C&W music. Cant rember all the stuff that
was played but remember Cash followed by Elvis, Jim Reeves & Patsy Cline as
second favourites ( another great singer, died far too young ). Then Tom
Jones appeared on the scene and my mother never let us near the radiogram
again!

Don't worry - they'll be playing him, highly distorted, up closes in
the Baroows for years to come.

Too bad! I didn't think he'd last long after June died. His health has
been precarious for some time now.

John Ritter dropping dead at 54 was a real shocker as they said he had
no history of heart problems.

Cheers, Helen

Separating himself from Baghdad Bob, "Lesley Robertson"

Not recently. In his prime, not many could compete with him,
but age and illness had sure slowed him down.

You should have heard his brother Tommy sing - _he_ had a marvelous
voice. I heard him live at a concert once back in the '60's.

P.S. Yes, we will miss Johnny Cash.

My parents were big fans of his. I remember hearing "I Walk The Line"
as a kid and trying to sing along with the really low verses. I'm in
my 30s now and still can't. Then again, tenors tend to make a little
more money so I guess it's a good trade-off.

Pity he was utterly devoid of talent isn't it?
