Hello Folks,
I'm working on a web site for an event we're sponsoring in our city next
year. I was hoping to find some constructive criticism as to how the site
may be improved. Not all the links are complete yet, nor have I gathered all
the info I need to make the site complete. I've asked for your help here at
SCS, to hopefully avoid my intended audience until I've polished the site a
bit.
I'm not looking for accolades to be sure. Just hoping for some insight
from those of you that may be more experienced with this sort of thing than
I am.
The site is at http://members.shaw.ca/s.kortegaard/fling/
Cheers,
Scot.

I think it looks really nice Scot. It looks like you've put a lot of work
into it. It also makes me wish I could be there

I just have one wee nit picky thing In the following sentence on the
judging page, it should be 'who' not 'whom'...
"Please indicate whom your designated judge will be on the inside leaf of
the brochure/mailer"

Nice pictures of your trip to Scotland. Judging by your comments on another
post, you had a good time. I'm happy that you did.

Cheers, Helen

On Wed, 24 Sep 2003 02:12:33 GMT, I read these words from "Scot
Kortegaard" <s.kortegaard@shaw.ca> :

I see you appear to have a couple of links to .pdf files in there,
"map of downtown Kamloops",
"brochure/mailer, outside, inside".

These tend to freeze / crash some browsers.
Neither Opera (crashes) nor Firebird (freezes) will open these pages.

AFAIK, there's nothing wrong with my browser set-up.
I can *download/save* .pdf files and then display them.

I try to stick with .htm (and other such flavours) where possible.

HTH

I've lived in Ontario since I came to Canada many years ago. Since my Mother
is still living in Scotland (she'll be 88 in November), I've always gone
home on vacation. I've never been to BC but have heard from several friends
who have been there that it's a beautiful province. Maybe some day

Cheers, Helen

There's a house in Tongue, Sutherland, called Kamloops - I had no idea it
was named for a place in Canada.

In article <3F719ADA.A8E77B9@which.net>, S Viemeister
<sheila.veimeister@which.net> writes

Are you sure it wasn't the other way round??

On the other hand a house on Kintyre called Spion Kop was definitely
named after the Boer War battle site of that name, as was, I assume, a
former part of the Liverpool football ground.

Pretty sure, yes - it's a fairly modern house, one of a number built on
part of the old glebeland.

<SNIP>

thanks Stewart,
I'm not sure that there's alot of people that use Opera or Firebird
browsers out there, but maybe there are (I didn't even know they
existed!). I thought the idea of pdf files that they were pretty much
universal. I posted them such because it's much easier to control the
print out. I'll consider what you've suggested though.
Cheers,
Scot.
