What are you opinions on this:

http://images.google.co.uk/images?q=englishflag&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=%22Island+of+England%22&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&meta=

I personally feel quite offended and can understand the
antienglishness of some of my friends.

USA).

It worse than that. Britain/England are very often one in the same to a lot
of Americans. If they cant get the concept of the Britain separated from
*ngland there is little chance of recognising other constituent parts of
Britain.

It doesn't bother me in the least, its ignorance rather than a deliberate
swipe at Scotland. Harmless, even though I would prefer a wee bit of
education regarding the subject.

See the post a few threads down 'Interesting rumour'

Kevin.

Jeeze, first I heard the French try to blame the killer heat wave on
George Bush Jr.
Now the Scotts think they're invisable to us.
Well we do know who you are, we all loved Braveheart after all and we
know Mel took a lot of (a few thousand)liberties with history.(Where's
the effing bridge?)
Blue faced? Wasn't that the Picts?
Anyway the world knowes who you are, and long before Mel came north.
The world LOVES scotch whiskey, and scotland is the only place in the
world
where it can be made. (The Korens really love the stuff.)
Why are you getting so work up over a union jack?

Frae Auld Bob Peffers:
Wir no gettin fashed aboot thi Union Flag, (BTW: The Union Jack is the
smaller version that flies on the, would you believe, Jack Staff of a UK
ship). Whit wi dinna like is the Inglis makin claim oan the Union Flag iz
thir ain. Mony Scots ir jist iz prood tae bi British iz the Inglis ir,
(spier ony blue nose aboot that), bit wi ken fu weel wir ain flag iz the
bonnie blae an white Saltire an the Union flag iz jist iz much oors iz the
Sootherons.

Owersettin intil Inglis: We're not upset about the Union Flag, What we don't
like is the English claiming it as their own. Many Scots are just as proud
to be British as the English, (ask any Glasgow Rangers fan about that), are
but we do know full well our own flag is the beautiful blue and white
Saltire and the Union Flag is just as much ours as it is the English'.

That's simply not true. It's also a breathtakingly large conclusion to draw
on the basis of the two links you posted.

Have you ever been to the USA? There are Scottish festivals and Highland
games all over the country every year.

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&q=%22Highland+games%22

The St. Andrews Society and the Scottish American Society are thriving in
the USA.

Millions of Americans are researching their ancestry, which leads a large
number of them to learn more about Scotland. Scottish clan and family
societies exist all over the USA.
