Peace activism and Israel
There was a very good program on C4 last night concerning the deaths
of various peace activists in Israel over the past year. Very
informative and sad. Even the Israelis themselves are now starting to
ask questions of their government. As one of the Israelis interviewed
said, 'The IDF doesn't care who they kill as long as they're not
American. Europeans don't count as they're seen as Anti Semites.'
Poses quite a few questions. Are the Israelis entitled to kill anyone
they like in pursuit of their 'Shangri-La'? If one disagrees with the
Israeli state, does that make one an anti semite? Has the sense of law
and order broken down as the IDF seem to be judge, jury and
executioners these days.
Another thing is that the IDF are employing Bedu to patrol the refugee
camps. Pardon me for being cynical, but is this so that have
'deniability' and can categorically state that no Israeli shot a
'friendly!'
