......may call me Sir. Valiant Sir if you wish, on account of my
valiant antecedents.

Drove past Corgarff Castle the other day. Thought......."ah, the old
ancestral pile".

Corgarff was held by the valiant Hardie, in the four****th century,
who was of French origin, and waited upon his Majesty John, King of
France, when prisoner in England along with David, King of Scots.
Edward III of England coming to visit the royal prisoners, ordered his
cupbearer to fill a glass of wine, and give it to the most worthy; he
gave it to the Scots monarch, for which the French King's servant gave
him a box on the ear; - the king reproved him, saying "Tout Hardi",
upon which he got his name, and it descended to his offspring; and,
coming over to Scotland with King David Bruce, his majesty gave him
the lands of Corgarff, by charters and letters patent, under the royal
seal, in 1388 and his decedents as yet call themselves MacHardy ie
Hardys son; but there are some near Gordon castle, on the Spey, who
call themselves Hardie.

That young whippersnapper, Alan Hardie, is merely inventing a pedigree*,
whereas I know for a fact that I have ancestral piles all over the
place. I'm just pointing this out in case there are any American
heiresses out there, looking for easy access to a title.....

* Pssstt....American heiresses..... the person to whom I am responding
claims all sorts of ancestry, which, on close examination, almost always
turns out to be ******ry!

How dare you! My grandfather only married his youngest sister to get
his hands on her pension!

It's the sitting around on the cold ground what does it. Ointment may
help, but failing that suppositories work wonders.......

(so I'm told).

The only way the American lassies would be interested, would be real
money, titles, something the size of Buckingham Palace with Windsor
and Sandringham thrown in not to mention that piece of Scottish
property known as Balmoral. Of course there would be the servants,
etc. to staff and care for these alternative residences. ROTFL Sal
