Default MBEKI- STATE of the UNION

just looked at our Famed president 's speech....Not only did he
promise continued support for his buddy Mugabe....but also did he
promise the South African people..(Everyone)..Runnning water-next 5
years.....electricity for all-8years...Effective Aids treatment for 53
000 people- March 2005....Blow more Energy in to the police force...to
CATCH 200 of most wanted criminals...

YOu are talking about aguy who already have been in power for a long
time...His party have been in power for a decade now.....AND now
suddenly he has all the answers to reach this goals he haven't even
came CLOSE to reaching in many a years...
I mean this same guy who wants to help 53000 aids victims...doubted
the HIV virus as the cause of Aids...a year or two ago....And although
many a black people in South Africa complain about the state of their
lives than a decade ago...HE continually and STILL blame Apartheid as
the root of all his problems in 2004...

It's days like this where I can do nothing else than just smile and
pump myself full of Alcohol...

STATE of the UNION....???!! SOMEBODY SHOULD CHECK THE STATE OF HIS
****ING MIND..!!

What makes you think it's a '****ing' mind?

Politicians blame anything other than themselves, that is normal. Apartheid
will probably be blamed for things a century hence - Nazism still is blamed
for things now and it died in 1945.

The ANC has achieved a lot in terms of improvement - the stats that show
that unemployment and poverty have increased don't include the fact that
immigration has increased more.

The Argus had a headline showing the violent crime has decreased hugely. No
doubt this has little to do with the government, but you can always expect
governments to claim success for good things in about the same measure as
they deny their involvement in bad things for which only they are
responsible.

Mugabe is two people. One is the racist genocidal maniac. The other is the
supporter of the ANC in exile. The mistake is to think that people talking
of the latter are also talking of the former - or visa versa.

"That," he said, "is a distinguished civilian, John Stuart Mill. He
was an authority on political economy."

"Why?" asked Bertie.

"Well, he wanted to be; he thought it was a useful thing to be."

Bertie gave an expressive grunt, which conveyed his opinion that
there was no accounting for tastes. - Saki, The Toys of Peace

So we excuse the stupidity just like that?

So what has that to do with it? Is the governments duty to all comers
through uncontrolled immigration or to the citizens of South Africa?
Think before you prattle.

What was the source of the statistics? Now you are not being serious to
expect sane people to accept stuff from the government PR office when
the police are specifically not allowed to provide crimes statistics per
suburb, per city, per province. Why would you trust the ANC's obvious
manipulation of statistics any more than you did the Nats?

Mugabe has liberation credentials. It seems that for some that is a free
ticket to destroy the country he was supposed to have saved from the
racist colonialists. Interesting cultural difference in that when a
priest has 50 years of dedicated service to the community discarded and
forgotten if found to have got to close to the choir boys. Until Mbeki
and the ANC can draw that line of distinction they remain immature
politicians and a positive danger to the future of the country through
the potential to selfdistruct rather than accept a peaceful transistion
of power when they lose popularity.

"Hope is replaced by fear and dreams by survival, most of us get by."

A palpable point indeed.

The telephone current is a phenomenon of the ether, say the theorists. But
what is ether? No one knows. Sir Oliver Lodge has guessed that it is

knows. - The History of the Telephone, Herbet Casson 1910

Well I suppose he's sticking his neck out at least. He's stating his goals,
and if he doesn't meet these, presumably the electorate will hold him
accountable ... Nah.

At least Mugabe must be reasonably close to death by now, so maybe we won't
have to worry about him for too much longer. Maybe they're just waiting for
the old git to croak. ... Nah.

OK. Where's that bottle?
