Where should I go in Spain????
In Madrid:
El Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofía museums
The Retiro park, Plaza Mayor, La Latina quarter (at night), Gran Vía, etc...
There are many buses that take you for a tour through the city.
Next to Madrid:
Toledo (a must)
El Escorial and the Valle de los Caidos
Avila, Salamanca and Segovia
Patones de Arriba (a picturesque village)
Instead of going back to Barcelona, I would go to Sevilla instead (2 hours by
train from Madrid). It's one of the most fascinating cities in the world.
In Barcelona:
The Gothic quarters, cathedral, Parque Guell, Sagrada Familia, Puerto
Olímpico, etc...
Next to Barcelona:
Montserrat
Vic
Many medieval villages in the province of Gerona.
You should really buy a guide (I usually buy the Lonely Planet ones) and some
short history of the country (such as The Story of Soain). At least, that's
what I do when I visit the country.
If you're on a tight budget, stay at 'hostales'. They are decent and
unexpensive. In Madrid, there's plenty of them in Gran Vía avenue.
