Delhi thrives on Afghan civil strife
Our Correspondent KABUL: Uncertain conditions in Afghanistan, spawned
by the
American action against Taliban, have provided an opportunity to India
to
make inroads into this war-torn country. It is sparing no effort to
reap
maximum benefits from the infighting and has started planting
RAW-trained
agents in the garb of diplomats to further its vested interests.
After having a strong foothold through opening of its three Consulates
in
Kandahar, Jalalabad and Heart, India continues with cultivating of
Afghan
leadership to pitch them against Pakistan. Latest in the series is the
confirmed presence of RAW people in the newly formed Directorate 21 of
Afghanistan's Intelligence in Panjsher Valley, known as ‘Riast
Best-o-Yak',
with its headquarters in Kabul.
Its modus operandi is to cultivate individuals in the provinces
bordering Pakistan. Confirmed reports suggest that the Indians have
cultivated and hired officials, mostly from Afghan Police, like those
of Abdullah Laghmani, Ajab Shah Gul Tareen, Amir Jan, Div Commander
Mustafa of Khost, Security Commander Khost Gen Daud, Security
Commander Kandahar Ikram, Younus Qanooni and Mir Wais, son of Gen
Toran Ismail. Defence Minister Gen. Qasim Fahim, whose thickness with
the Indians to dislodge President Hamid Karazai is a common secret,
has taken the responsibility of recommending Afghan individuals for
training by the RAW trained Indians.
