Default '00 Durango power lock actuator-HELP

LD,

I just did this same surgery on my '00 SLT, 'cept on the passenger side.
I took out the entire lock assy. and the power door lock actuator is
part of the latch, so you have to replace the entire unit. Whoever thought
of making the gears out of nylon is outta their mind. The gears are all
chewed up.
I tried to service mine, but couldn't find repair parts available.

I found a new unit from a dodge dealer on ebay for about $65 shipped.

The missing screw holding you up is behind the inner latch handle. Pull the
chrome handle
and the phillips screw (same one as near the arm rest) is there unger tha
handle. You already
know about the screw near the mirror mount and the 2 at the very bottom
edge.

Pull the panel up and over the lip of the window opening (about 1") and the
panel
comes away from the door. Of course you have the latch rod attached by a
clip and the
wire harnesses for the speakers, power windows, locks and the power mirror
control.

HTH,

Merry Christmas

Curtis

Thanks but (I should have responded earlier), I found the same as you.
$69.00+ tax at a local dealer and he showed me the screw behind the door
handle. took me 51minutes flat. The amazing thing is another dealer wanted
"approx. $250 and wait til next week, said it was a 2 hour job, and then
$130 for just the part! At least this dealer I went to didn't rip me off on
the part.
thanks, hope others can benefit from this info.

Ok, I'm having the same issues and I'm not very handy. Can someone please
provide assistance?

I've got the driver's side door sounding like horrible grinding if the
power locks are used, and the passenger side as well. The driver side
power window stopped working as well. This week, the alarm starts going
off every 5th or 6th time you open the door.

On the driver's side door, I've been able to remove the plastic shell, and
I've peeled away the white cover where I can get to the actuator. Is there
no way to seperate the metal shell so I can see what I'm doing in there
better? Which piece is it that needs replaced?

The actuator and latch are made together in one unit. If you purchase a new
one for (hopefully no more than the $69.00 I paid) you will see the (4)
plastic clips for the 4 rods or links. One is for the door lock plunger,
one for the inside handle, one for the outside handle and, I'm not sure, but
the other may be for the outside key lock. You will also see the plug for
the power cord and the three holes for the screws that attach it to the
door. This unit removes with the three screws (#30 Torx head) in the edge of

hand in there and work with it but you can. LD

Excellent - I have already bought a #20 Torx socket, but I've been unable
to find the part locally. Where did you find it?

Note!! It's a 30, not a 20 and it's a driver, not a socket. The bolts in
the edge of the door are the "socket head".
I got the part from the local Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep dealer.
Good Luck
