It's up to you if you throw them away. Many people complain about the outer
surfaces becoming pitted and scratched making them look dirty. There is a
fix for that.

I see no reason why you can't remove them and clean the insides with a
medical swab or a home made equivalent (rag on a stick) if it's only dirt.

if you clean the inside with a wet solution, make sure you dry it thoroughly
