Default Dodge sludge

Took my 1999 dodge dakato to the dealership for a complaint of " 0 oil pressure
check engine". The delership said the engine was full of sludge-
took the intake off and said they see this problem alot. The truck only has
55000 miles on it and I changed oil and filter regulerly. Can this be?

I had this problem with my 01 durango. If you do not drive long enough for
it to get up to operating temp long enough to get the moisture out of the
system, the water will build up and slug up the oil. I flushed mine and take
it on occassional 30 mile drives and haven't had the problem since. Is
your's a 4.7L?

Could also be a bad PCV valve.

In article <c51amm0140@drn.newsguy.com>, Jeep says...

...It has the 3.9L engine. How could the PCV cause this??
Is it a good idea to flush with trans fluid?

PCV is Positive Crankcase Ventilation. If the PCV valve is not doing it's
job, all the vapor is trapped in the crankcase. Would be the first thing I
would check.

I concour with Al.

I have two vechiles (Dodge Neon and an older model Toyota Corola) that when
driven are typically driven less than 10 miles one way. Because of this I
change the oil every 3,000 miles or 3 - 5 months which ever comes first
(usually the months) and change the PCV valve every second oil change if it
needs it or not. The PCV valve is typically $3 As someone else said, if
you don't drive them long enough to get up to normal temperature, moisture
in the oil will not evaporate and sludge up the oil.

In doing this I'm hoping to keep the engine from getting sludge build up
inside. I hope my efforts are not in vein. (I also try to drive them once
a week at freeway speeds for about 30 miles.)
