the more i consider trading up the more i like the truck that i already have
(2005 dodge 3500 cummins 4x4 dually w/48RE http://inlinediesel.com/trucks/3gen/1/index.html .....but i really want to add an exhaust brake and need to know what my options are (with links were applicable) to include the controller. i really like the way you can simply turn it on in the '07 dodge rams and have it engage as soon as you release the accelerator pedal. is this the same on the aftermarket models or do you manually have to turn it on and off while braking? what options do i have here? jacobs says it cannot be done on an '05. thanks, -- Nathan In Montana http://ConcealedCarryForum.com http://1911Talk.com http://GlockCarry.com |

Pacbrake says Jacobs is full of it
![]() http://www.pacbrake.com That will answer all your questions. Note they have a special "kit" for the '05s. The problem with the '05s is the ECM no longer has the exhaust brake function turned on (those DC bastards turned it off), so the kit uses a micro-switch on the pedal instead (so, when you lift off the pedal, and the brake is armed, it will engage). Note that they also use the ATS Commander transmission controller, which is EB-aware, and will keep the converter locked while the exhaust brake is on (until you hit a pre-set speed, then it will unlock). |

thanks for the link.
is there a way to turn it back on? will the ECM from an '06 work? anyway to avoid this? micro-switches are a common point of failure in my industry anyway. any need for any tranny upgrades? thanks, -- Nathan In Montana http://ConcealedCarryForum.com http://1911Talk.com http://GlockCarry.com http://HiPowerTalk.com |

what about turning the feature back on? is there any way to interface with
the existing ecm to turn the feature back on? would you make this same recommendation if you werent running power adders, or is this recommendation based on running additional power over stock? -- Nathan In Montana http://ConcealedCarryForum.com http://1911Talk.com http://GlockCarry.com http://HiPowerTalk.com |
