My honest thoughts are build it yourself vice buying one. You will be able
to get exactly what you want with out the headaches of "customizing" a brand
name 'puter. Hell, I'd build it for you if you want.

Outside of that, if you can wait a bit, hold tight until we see how the AMD
buy-out of ATI turns out. I say this because over the years on-board audio
has improved leaps and bounds. With this buy-out, I expect to see on-board
video to do the same. This can say you some money if you build.

For a brand name, I would have to say Dell or Gateway. They provided the
best over all c/s when ever we needed to deal with a warranty issue.

Just make sure you use it in your Ram! Had to make sure we talked about
dodge trucks, ya know.

Check ebay. Go to the computer section, enter the processor brand and speed
you want and you'll have quite a selection. Most will offer upgrade, so it's
just like building your own but it'll come to you fully assembled and burned
in.

You can plug any size monitor you want in the back of the Laptop. You don't
have to use the LCD when your at home or the office.

That's is very true Roy, if you really wanted the laptop for the navigation
use, you should be able to get the optional docking station for the laptop
you buy. That would allow you to use a standard keyboard, mouse setup, and
give to the ability to use a conventional monitor or even TV unit if you
have one that has DMI or VGA inputs.

You don't need the docking station, you can plug all of that and more
directly into the back or sides of laptop.

True, but there are advantages to a dock, like now having to plug/unplug
everything if he needs to or when he uses the laptop in his Ram. Either
way, a laptop can be used for your needs.

Oh sure, I have three docks myself. I was just saying he didn't need a dock
to make this work, in case he's strapped for money.

A real smart ass you are today!<VBG> Ya filling in for wide ride?

The info is cool but I'm really leaning away from the laptop. Also want a
warranty, don't have or want to acquire the talent to build one. If I'm in
FL I want to pick the phone and say it don't work come and get it or where
do I send it.

While we are at it. Has anybody heard of a thing that you plug into your cig
lighter or aux outlet that allows you to plug a couple more items into it.?
