MY 1999 RAM QUAD CAB DASH HAS SEVERAL CRACKS IN IT. LEFT TO RIGHT , FRONT
TO BACK. DASH IS GRAY IN COLOR. DODGE SAYS THEY WILL REPLACE DASH AND
SPLIT THE COST OF IT AND LABOR WITH ME. MY COST $370 MIN. ANYONE ELSE
HAVE THIS PROBLEM? I COULD UNDERSTAND ONE CRACK BUT SEVERAL SOUNDS LIKE A
DEFECTIVE PLASTIC.........

PLEASE find the "caps-lock" key on your keyboard and turn it OFF! It makes
posts unbearable to read, and will most likely start the AOL and webTV jokes
started again from some of the regulars <g>.

My '95 lived 8 years with me and I traded it in with a perfect dash. I live
in California, and the truck spent half of it's life (the last 4 years)
parked outside. Your truck is most likely well out of warrantee, so if they
are willing to split the cost, then I say go for it. They are probably
offering this because your dash plastic/vinyl *may* be faulty, and they know
it. Even if it is, your recourse is lawyers, litigation, and a butt-ugly
dash while it goes on for months, perhaps years. Even then, there's no
guarantee you'd win. Save yourself the headache, split the cost with them,
and make your truck look great again!

ouch! cap lock malfunction??

we bought a 99 ram qc from a dealer last year... the dah looks like
someone removed the windshield, hit the dash front/top with something,
and replaced the windshield...
funny thing is, the truck's never been wrecked and the windshield seal
is stock and aged....
our cracks sound very much like yours, IF you're talking about the TOP
of the dash... the front looks fine..
The dealer threw in a dash cover, matching the color (camel?) pretty
well, and the dash doesn't rattle, so we bought it and love the
truck..

I have a 1994 and the dash has never cracked!

I have a 1975 and the dash never cracked on that either. In fact in thinking
about it, my Dad has a 1959 Ford pickup and the dash has never cracked on that
either or on his 1940 Ford truck either.
Does that mean anything?

Politics, the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from
the rich.

Since it's out of warranty, if the dealer is being that good about it, take
tham up on it and be grateful. It seems rare these days that anyone gets
any goodwill adjustments.

A used car dealer that I know bought a nice 2000 Quad cab full size Dodge at
an auction recently and didnt notice until he got it to his lot that it had
2 big cracks in the plastic top dash that went from the windshield to the
front dash cover. Kind of like the old soft dashes are prone to do after
time. Maybe they were tightened incorrectly and put under stress at the
factory and it took a little time to finally crack? I really have no idea
myself.

I have a '94 and the dash looks like shit. Two big cracks in it, and
they happened with surprising speed. To be accurate though it has set
out in the FL sun all the time even though I always use one of those
reflective window shields when parked.
