Default Any Shimano Scorpion 1000 users out there?

I have 2.

They are nice reels but if I had to do over again I think I would have
stuck with the Curado 100's.

My problem is that they have a scraping sound when I reel in. I think
the spool is rubbing against the housing but trying to solve it is
driving me nuts.
It seems to get worse as the reel gets hotter in the sun.
The Curado 100 I have is so quiet.

Anyone else have this issue and is there a solution?

Default Any Shimano Scorpion 1000 users out there? (reel rod)

I have both types as well. I don't have any problems with either of them.

I know Randy has one and he sent it out for yearly maintenance and new
bearings and discovered the spool was bent. Maybe that's your problem and
you should send it back to Shimano.

I got my 3 year old Quantum E600PT back from Zebco repair. They charged me
$35.00 (with shipping) to replace all the gears and bearings and lube it up
with hot sauce. I opened the box to find a brand new reel!!! You couldn't
wipe the smile off my face with a 2 by 4.

I talked to the service tech before and after I sent it in about my issues
with the reel. He said after examining the reel that he was going to replace
the guts, not replace the reel. I guess he got the message that I was
unhappy and now that he treated the problem in this manner, I would actually
consider buying another Quantum baitcaster.

That's the difference between good and poor customer service.

Anyone have any reel or rod company customer service stories, either good or
bad, to share?

In article <ozOgg.6742$_c1.4968@fed1read05>, noone@nowhere.com says...

I don't have a Scorpion but do have a CU100b and I assume the frames are
the same. If the spool is overfilled with line, the line can rub against
the recess in the reel foot. There's very little clearance in that area
and with braid or Fireline you'd probably hear it during a retrieve,
especially if the line is slightly bunched up in the middle of the
spool. During a cast the brake weights are noisy enough to mask the
sound.

Nope, ours are cute, furry and cuddly, kind of like me! It's those Canadian
coons that are viscous! Slimey little rascals........
