Default Lamson Light Speed 1.5

Anyone own one? Like it? I have to send mine back for the second time in 1
year because of a stuck spool. Tips? Waterworks-Lamson says this is
unusual...

Thanks

I agree. It's very unusual. I have a Force 2 w xtra spool Force 3 w xtra
spool and a Velocity 3.5. I never had any problems with any of the reels.
Ever. I also have a Sage 3200 - which Waterworks also made - and never had
any problems with that reel either. I'll never buy anythign else than
Waterworks. Maybe you're just unlucky, and just got a "bad" reel? Wont they
just replace the reel?

They didn't last time. I e-mail them and am hoping they do this time. The
$40 plus shipping fee to have it fixed is getting expensive...

Been very happy with my 1.5. I've had it about two years and fished
with a quite a bit.

I haven't had a problem with my LS2, except losing the first one I
owned. By "stuck", do you mean the spool will not come off the reel? Or
is it "stuck", and won't spin?

I always thought the lightspeed was a good looking and smooth reel but
always thought it was too thin and did not think the reels could holdup to
prolonged dropping and banging without causing a slight bend in the frame or
the reel spool.

That is exactly what happened to my LS2. Dropped it on a rock and the
spool bent and jammed. I was able to roughly straighten it with my
fingers and it now rotates fine, with a just a little wobble. The main
problem is the cone in the "sealed" drag system corroded badly after 2
years use in fresh water. It is now back for repair. I wont buy another one.

Default Lamson Light Speed 1.5 (dab reel)

A few weeks ago I fell, and slammed my LS2 into a rock. I was sure it
was going to have a big dent in the spool or frame. The only damage I
can see, is a few tiny burrs on the rim of the spool. That incident was
probably the 3rd time this reel has met a rock, up close and personal.
The only damage has been the marks from the last fall. I did have a
problem with a sticky spool. A dab of lubricant(silicone floatant)on the
shaft fixed it. I like my Lightspeed, but think they're ugly. ;-)
