It's October and the water up here in Michigan is starting to cool down.
Every spring right after ice out I catch smallies and some largeheads,
In the fall I can't seem to catch them as the water cools, is there a
beter bait to use.

I too am in Michigan & this time of year a back & blue jig & pig is one
of my favorites but it depends a lot on the body of water. Where are
you fishing with your s. buddies?

Around schools of smely in the late fall, it's one of the better choices.
Don't bother unless you find the bait tho.
