Default Trent/Neuse River fly fishing (fly panfish shore)

I'm in New Bern, NC. I'm mainly fishing the Trent River (a tributary of
the Neuse River), and can't seem to catch anything. I'm boatless, so I
always fish from the shore. I've had a few strikes off of terrestrials
(bees), but no luck with poppers, hoppers, etc. I'm trying to find out
what has worked to catch panfish in the past.

Perhaps I haven't found a decent spot yet (fishing from Lawson Creek
Park)?? Panfish are *supposed* to be easier to catch..

Ideas??

Default Trent/Neuse River fly fishing (fly bream rod)

i don't fish in the area, but i'm familiar with it. you need a boat and
you need to get away from the park. it's still a bit early, but weather
and water are warming and the fishing should pick up soon. small poppers
with the rubber legs and little spidery rubber legged flys seem to work
best for bream and bluegill. i've caught a bunch down toward river
bend. move farther up the trent, fish areas with good structure or
likely beds, mouths of little creeks. i'll wager you are the only person
around lawson creek park waving a fly rod? have you tried shad fishing
up around pitchkettle creek on the neuse? use silver, white, and
chartreuse streamers.

As a kid in the hills of western NC I remember being confused about the
Neuse and the Meuse. I thought one of them was a spelling mistake. Both were
east of me where people talked funny . . .
