I could find no Midge recipe there, secret or otherwise.

You have to go poking around in the report Vince.
The recipe is …
Hook: TMC 2488
Sizes : 18-26
Body : 8/0 Uni-Thread, Brown
Wing : Umpqua Floro-Fiber, White
Rib: 6/0 Fly Master Plus White Thread (do not reverse rib)
Thorax : Fine and Dry, Rust Brown
Thread : 8/0 Uni-thread, Brown
The secret is in the non-reverse rib …

Are you being facetious there Stephen? I can’t see why the direction of the
rib would make any real difference in appearance or durability on a thread
body. Maybe the fish are accustomed to reverse rib flies and prefer the
un-reversed? The rib isn’t going to sink into the underbody wraps because
you’re still going to be crossing several thread wraps for every rib wrap.
I’m overthinking this..

dang, found me out.
