Default 96 f350 ABS light

im preparing to purchase a '96 f350 crew cab diesel 4x4 SRW (shown above) from
a local dealership. the truck looks great, drives great, and seems to run
great with 124,000 miles on the odometer. before i purchase it i have two
concerns:

1) im not quite sure how to test for cavitation.
2) the ABS light stays on. the dealer says he had it in the shop and they cant
find anything wrong with it.

any information would be appreciated.

Get test strips and use them. A good parts store may have the strips,
otherwise go to http://www.dieselpage.com and get some.

thanks for the tips so far. the ABS light doesnt flash, it remains constantly
on.

is coolant additive necessary if the coolant is changed at the recommended
intervals?
thanks,

Nathan,

If the ABS light is in it could be as cheap as a sensor (the rear diff
sensor sometimes is troublesome) or as expensive as an entire ABS control
module.

Translation of dealer's statement: "We don't want to know what it is until
you buy it, and once you buy it we're hoping it's something expensive to
fix."

I agree, sounds like the dealer is being evasive.
Unless this is a bargain deal (it should be) and you are prepared to deal with
the ABS issue yourself, I'd hold their feet to the fire about repairing it.
Keep in mind that an ABS light can come and go, so just because they say it's
fixed and the light is out doesn't mean it won't come back on after you pay them
and get 10 miles down the road.

Absolutely. You have to add it to the new coolant.
