1991 F150 drive train slack?
Dan,
The effort of fixing this slack could be any one of the things mentioned by
everyone else, except I dont think the engine, or your transmission would be
a problem. I have this issue with my 2000 Ranger when I buck the engine, but
nothing is loose. I think its in your rearend. In which case, I am with the
fella who said it is NOT for a DIY. The pinion gear is adjusted accordingly
with the ring gear by using shims, and this is something better left to a
professional with experience. I would get your flywheel refinished though.
That is almost a must do when replacing the clutch.

Hello, my truck has slack in the Manuel 5speed and or the rear end.
I'd like to find directions
online (for free) or have someone explain how to adjust the gears
(slack therein) in the trany and
rear end. I have no problem with dropping the trany or removing the
rear end cover. It's just how
to check and adjust the gears in trany and rear end.
1991 F150 XLT Lariat, 160,000ml, 6 Cylinder, 5 speed Manuel, 2X4
Has brand new Clutch kit and slave cylinder. When shifting it shutters
bad unless you let the clutch out pretty quick. On
highway it will rock forward and back while driving down highway, push
on gas more to stop it.
Thank you so much for any help, Dan
