Default 1993 ford escort LX rough turning over

I have a 1993 escort wagon w/85,000. I put a timing belt on. Ran
rough. I cleaned IAC and now runs great. Slave cyl went (after
driving
about 10 miles) and I replaced. Works great but barely and I mean
BARELY turns over. Put in new battery. Same. Put in new starter.
SAME.
Checked the ing. wire to the starter. Good. Checked the ground. Good.
Now what? Please help.........

Sounds like you may be a tooth or two off on the timing belt.

You never want to change the timing belts on Ford Escorts no matter how many
miles they might have on them. When the timing belt goes on an Escort, they
are done. Have it towed to the junk yard and get another vehicle.
Replacing a timing belt is a waste of time on an Escort, whether it has
broken or not. They never run the same again after replacing the old belt.

Are you talking about the Escorts that you have replaced a timing belt
in or
is your statement industry wide?
