ford fiesta mk2 engine swap
The 1300 ohv is completely different to the other engines, IE: zetec, diesel
etc etc, so to change the type of engine will involve obtaining all the
relevant ECU's and control units, not to mention a different wiring loom,
not worth the hastle basically.
these old ohv engine are not the smoothest or quietest engines in the world,
sometimes sounding like a bag of nuts and bolts at best, but they are ok if
frequent oil changes are carried out.
a second hand gearbox will only cost you around £200 maximum from any
brakers yard plus fitting, but check it is the gearbox at fault first before
replacing.
is the noise present when the clutch is pressed down? and does it go away
when the clutch is released.
If its there when the clutch is up (IE foot not on the pedal) then it could
be the first motion shaft bearings (in the gearbox)
if its only present when applying the clutch then its probably the clutch
release bearing.
hope this helps.
Steve.
