Default Windstar Question

95 Windstar has developed "rattle" at back hatch. When I examined it the
inner plastic panel is loose at both lower outer attachments. This may or
may not be the problem. It is not at all evident to me how to remove this
inner panel without damaging it. There are Two screws attaching the inner
pull strap which will need to be removed and upper molding clips where it
slips under the upper facade but what else is holding it on? And if it is
just the usual pop in plastic "rivets" how are they accessed? Any help would
be appreciated.

Thanks
Howard

Default Windstar Question

Ah the old 95 rear panel. I remember it well. On my 95 windstar I had that
panel off once to disconnect the right latch switch, again to disconnect the
left latch switch, again to try to repair the wiper motor, again to try to
repair the power lock actuator. I also had it off several times to unjam
the lock mechanism. Each of these items I disconnected in turn because the
cost of parts was higher than I was willing to pay at the time.

The two screws are the main fasteners. The rest are snaps around the
periphery, if memory serves me. Pull on the panel and where you meet
resistance, pry it with a putty knife. They even make a special tool for
this. I traded the van about 3 yrs ago so I can't remember specifically
about where to pull but it wasn't a difficult task. When the components
inside are like that, the panel should be attached with velcro.

I drove a chevy venture for 3 years and traded it in on another windstar. I
now love my 03 SEL and hope the electrical components have been improved
because I now have a lot more of them.

Thank you for the response. I will give it a try when I have some time.
