FOR SALE: A real babe-magnet, for really old babes
1928 Model A Town Sedan, held in impound since a bank robbery in
Salina, Kansas in 1934, in which the driver and his partner were
killed. Everything original, down to plugs and rotor, except for
wheels, tires and headlights. Paint is non-existent (oxidized away),
but it was originally a sort of a turquoise on top, black on bottom.
Body is perfect(no dents, no wrecks), other than three bullet holes,
and two bullet dents (automatic spray pattern) coming in from the left
rear. All glass is shot out, and interior fabric well rotted, but
seats are in real good shape, springs, that is. All door panels and
knobs, etc. are there. Canvas top is gone, but wood framing is like
new. Have original cast iron heater and engine crank.
The car was trailered to the auction where I bought it, but after some
coaxing, I got it started and drove it about 0.8 miles home. First
time it had been driven since January, 1934. Kansas DMV has original
crime and impound reports. Odometer shows 9412. Serial number A190
I bought this car to restore and drive, but while researching title
information, came up with the police reports and impound records, so
decided to leave it alone for someone more knowledgeable. There
probably is not another one like it in existence, and I would like
someone to buy this car who cares about it as an original car.
Alternatively, I would like to trade this car for one which is in good
shape, but does not have the historical significance this one does.
