Default d20 Earthdawn?

Is anyone aware of a d20 (3.x) version of Earthdawn?

Love the game, not so keen on some of the mechanics.

People keep saying that 4e D&D is like Earthdawn. I haven't played
Earthdawn, so I don't know.

I think I recently heard a rumour about an Earthdawn for D&D4 project.
And to be honest, I can imagine the D&D4 powers to be a better fit for
ED talents than D&D3 feats are.

I still don't think it'll work, however. There's no game where setting
and system are so closely intertwined as Earthdawn, and switching to a
different system simply has to harm the setting. The only system that
I can imagine doing Earthdawn some sort of justice is GURPS, and it'll
be a huge load of work to pull it off. (You basically need to ban skills
and do everything through highly complex powers.)

I suppose D&D3 or 4 can work too, but you'd need such a huge load of
extra rules that there wouldn't be much left of the original d20 system.

Wait a second, I thought Earthdawn was the Prequel to Shadowrun?
Wouldn't it use the same system as SR?

No, it's the same world, but a completely different setting. Well, there
are some similarities, but the differences are a lot bigger.

Sort of, Earthdawn is set in the far past.

Nope.
Completely different.

How 'bout "Deadlands Wierd West" with the card-draw / poker mechanics?

Haven't played (or even looked at the mechanics of) Earthdawn, so I
can't really compare 'em. But DL sure has some "flavorful" setting-
specific mechanics...

I've never played Deadlands, but I agree, that sounds like it has
Earthdawn beat.
