How many of you play online?

And have any of you used voice over ip instead of or in conjunction
with a chat utility?

We haven't used it in game yet still testing it and waiting for my
players to all get headsets. Just found this software yesterday.
the software we are using is free and is available at:

http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php

yes I use dmgenie/kloodge werks/ and soon ventrilo all to play my
campaign. I hope dmgenie 4 includes all this into one package, that
would be cool.

Ventrilio is ok. The codec that allows macs and windows to speak on the
same vent server is not as good as the straight windows codec. I have 2
member of my group that are always remote and we use skype for them and
it is much clearer. For our Tabletop we use RPTools.net MapTool. For
the face to face member there are 3 laptops and a projector. Of course
DM Genie for initiative and encounters.

Do you suspend the projector from the ceiling? I was thinking of
building a collapsable gaming table that projects from the floor up.
Wondering how viable it would be.

I found a web site a while back where a guy mounted a projector to the
ceiling. And projected the map onto the table with a grid map on the
table. And the dm used erasable marker to draw things on the grid. If I
find it again I’ll post it for you to see.

I haven’t played an in person game for two years since I moved to Vegas;
couldn’t find a local game so started playing online. I use Kloodge
wreks for all my map and miniature needs, built in character sheets,
chat, sound effects, it does all kinds of stuff. A demo is available
at:

I hope this voice over ip works. My one buddy of a long time is missing
fingers and can’t type very well. He will now be able to play with us.
We tried setting up voice to text for him, but couldn’t find a program
that worked very well.

You might be thinking of the person who maintains
http://www.d20srd.org - he set up a digital projector (details at
http://www.penpaperpixel.org/tutoria...opprojection/). For my
group, which is still very much table-top based, we use a plasma
screen connected to a PC running Maptool. The server runs on my
laptop, and the players have a remote mouse presentation tool thing to
move tokens about. As a bonus, the presentation tool also has a laser
pointer which is used to distract any cats that decide to sit on
character sheets.

I ran on game a couple years ago using ventrillo, openrpg and dmgenie.
It was very succesful. The only problem was that openrpg is a bit buggy
mainly with the map function. So we used the map very little, mainly to
answer questions regarding complicated positioning. Other than that we
used openrpg for dice rolls and those too cheap to purchase a headset
could type responses. If some sort of dmgenie - dmgenie connection could
be made that would be awsome. If we live sync PC's and share maps that
would be ideal for me, I would consider running another online game.

I have never heard of Kloodge werks. What does that do?

I’m hopeing DMG4 will do everything Kloodge does plus have all the game
mechanics that DM Genie has. But to answer your question Kloodge does a
lot. Even more than what is stated on the web site, the more I use the
program the more I learn what it can do. Just check out the website and
tutorials at: http://www.kloogeinc.com/index.html If you use Klooge I
recommend downloading the “3.5 Edition d20 SRD V3.2” add on it will save
you time and it has a better character sheet. It’s available at:
http://kloogeinfo.mostlyfabrications...com_content&ta
sk=section&id=7&Itemid=39

It would also be cool if DMG4 could export NPC, PC’s in a format that
kloodge could understand. Like a Pcgen format kloodge can read this.

I can’t wait to see DMG4’s network capibilities, I hope im impressed.

This, IMO is the only useful purpose of a laser pointer.
