I stumbled upon a quest I knew nothing about. Jaheira gets a curse from
a guy in the Tavern in the Docks district. Where can I find this guy so
I can speed up my progress a bit? I find no reference to this quest in
any walkthru. Thanks.

You can go to the Government District and ask there after the mages who
cursed her. If you do, they'll approach you and ask for a payoff. Pay
them off or not as you see fit--they'll keep their word to you, but
paying off a group of professional thugs to spare a single victim seems
a good deal less heroic to me than killing them.

Alternatively, you can go to the Copper Coronet and ask Bernard about
Belgrade. He'll give you another piece of the puzzle.

Finally, if you're more in a hurry than interested in seeing the plot,
you can just go to the slums and find Ployer. He's located in a
Derelict House in the slums, which will be marked as such on your map.

leads on which to follow up. Try checking them out.

for as it doesn't seem all *that* imporant.

Well from an RP point of view I would say it _is_ important. Esp. if you are
romancing her. But anyway, shouldn't you be a little more concerned with
what happens to one of your friends than what happens in a city you never
heard of like Trademeet or so?
