Default BF2 (1.3) more woes

Seems installing the 1.3 patch after the official CD was not the end
of my troubles.

Next the game complained about an invalid CD Key. Had to fix the
registry entry.

Played online for around 1.5 hours then it crashed. Now it fails to
reconnect to any server and keeps dropping back to desktop again.

I have removed all the cache files. Any other suggestions?

Seems deleting the page file and then recreating it fixes the problem.
BF2 relies heavily on Virtual Memory it seems (I have 1GB ram) and
thus when the system crashed, the paging file became corrupted??

I wonder if this is also the real reason behind the earlier crashes to
desktop?

???

More whining for no reason. Sorry, after some of us spent 90 dollars on
this game we are asking it to work.

On the subject of the upgrade. I installed the incremental version, working
fine, but curious, the version doesn't list 1.3 but some lower version
1.2*** , close but not exactly. Should it read 1.3?

Cheers

BF2 is a great game, the only problem being when something goes wrong
it's nearly impossible to work out what, with all the solutions coming
from guess work.

These 'dmp' files that are created after a crash, any way of examing
the contents for error/return codes etc?

I asked myself the same question.

You mean at the ingame menu? No, it should not read 1.3.... I've
already noticed this with the prior patches

Ok, great, but being basically neurotic, I'd feel a whole lot better if it
said 1.3. Hope this worry won't affect my aim....

Something I have noticed with BF2 is that the crash is sometimes
related to the synchronisation between client and server, ie the crash
happens because something isn't quite right with the server.....leave
it a few days and it fixes itself.... Whether this has something to do
with current/last session I don't know...

I've also noticed an issue with recorded demos...it seems they no
longer play (highlighted in red) when the version number of the game
changes....also causing crashes back to desktop. Somekind of user
message would have been nice, rather than a catastrophic failure...
