Default Commander screen commands

I have a couple of queries about commands/shortcuts on the commander
screen - had a look around this group and a faq site without any
luck...

- when i use "V" to communicate with squad leaders, is it always
speaking with ALL squad leaders, or only those "selected" from the
list?

- if it's always all squads, then presumably the only purpose of
multiple selection is to give one attack/defend/move order to multiple
squads simultaneously... anyone confirm?

- Presumably commander can't send orders to players who arent' in
squads... pls advise? Is there a way to invite/allocate players to
squads?

thanks...

It's to all SLs.

Giving orders vocally doesn't work very well. I use it mostly for
telling them where the bad guys are

Squad leaders can invite people to squads but all the commander can do
is ask nicely. I usually type "ARTY REACTORS TOWERS etc" in caps to
everyone so the lone wolf jerks can at least try to get out of the way.
Mostly they are so wrapped up with themselves, they never look at mini
maps or check the text messages. Typing in individual orders is very
time consuming and they won't listen anyway

Yep that makes me a jerk, for I most of the time am too busy with the game
itself
to notice all the messages, maybe when I get more experienced I`ll get the
hang of that too.

just like Bryan said... "V" is to all squads but pushing "B" you can
talk to only the highlighted squad.

it's also good for verbally letting the squad leaders know that arti is
inbound. one more good use is to let squad leaders know which flags
are not being defended. if they accept the order then drop a vehicle
on them so they can race to the undefended flag.

i usually write to the team "squad up everyone or we're defnitely going
to loose." most of the time this reminds some to join a squad at
least. no everyone remembers to squad up at the beginning of a round.
i personally almost always remember but sometimes forget after a few
beers. and the commander being able to invite a lone wolf to a squad
would be a great feature for the commander. SL's usually don't have
time for this crap.

Good Luck!

Frankly no one should even be ALLOWED to lone wolf. ther game shouldn't
even let you load in till you have selected a squad, aswell as a spawn
point.

That would be a good server flag actually...
Disallow Lone Wolfs.

It won't stop them from being or playing like a lone wolf.
But then the SL could kick them from the squad, and they can't spawn
until they join a squad, and if they don't play ball, they get kicked
again. So hopefully they learn to team play or spend all the game
getting kicked from squads.

Why can't you let others play the game the way they want? How is their
playing style affecting you? All I hear is how squad play is so dominant,
so you should enjoy your points and wins, and live and let live.(or die)

here's the problem with lone wolves in BF2.... no contact with the
commander in any way. if you need something then you're not going to
get it. lone wolves are also not able to see artillery drops on their
mini map. you don't know how many times i've seen guys drive a jeep
right into an enemy flag after i've marked the area for an arti drop.
after the team kill i usually check the player list screen and notice
that they're a lone wolf. it's also funny how they're the ones who
usually start a mutiny vote 10 seconds after that too.

if you're in a squad and you're driving a tank/ apc around then a smart
commander is able to pay attention to how damaged your vehicle is also.
he can then drop a supply crate in your vicinity when you start taking
on damage.

if you're a sniper who's going to sit back and never run into battle
then i don't see a problem with being a lone wolf if that's how you
feel playing. you more than likely won't ever get a supply drop from
me (if i'm commander) either. i can't monitor your health and you
can't request supplies from your squad leader or ask directly as a SL.

if you don't want to play in a squad then don't but why not join a
squad? you never know when an SL will be at a cappable flag with no
enemies in view. when you die you can spawn on him and get flag cap
points or an assist.

I said ADD a server flag. i.e one that allows you to 'choose' whether or
not you want Lone Wolf behaviour on your server or in your game.

I never said change how others play the game, I never said it affects me.
I play a mix of Lone Wolf and Squad play, depending on the game,
depending on the server etc etc.

My response to the OP was a suggestion of how it could be done, and why
it not be useful anyway, but it gives a choice.

Hopefully you responded to the wrong post and meant to reply the OP,
because if you didn't, it explains why the gene pool of Lone Wolfers is
so diluted.
