There are three options on the server manager for the AGB server:

Off: Click to allow all clients to connect (i.e. to disable content
checking and permit all mods)

Pure: Click to only allow clients with default installations to connect
(i.e. no mods are allowed)

Unpure: Click to only allow clients with permitted modifications to
connect. This option requires you to generate CRCs for permitted mods.

Server is currently running pure, which is fine even if you have DC/EoD
etc installed. You would probably not be able to connect with Merciless
installed.

On DC and custom map days it has to be set to "Off".

OK... I hear what you're saying but I'm still not sure I understand
completely...
I have 'normal' BF1942 installed, patched to 1.4 latest. I have also
downloaded and installed Desert Combat mod plus a few of the custom maps.
So I can connect to a Pure server that doesn't accept mods installed even
tho I have DC?
I can connect to an Unpure (shouldn't that be Impure? ;-) server providing I
have the mod installed that they're running.?
And what's a CRC?

Same here, I have vanilla, DC, EoD, pirates and about 30 custom maps.

Yes, as long as your vanilla installation is pure. The mods like DC
aren't active when you play vanilla. If you had anything that modified
your vanilla setup, like Merciless or custom crosshairs then you'd have
problems.

How I understand it is unmodified vanilla will work in pure, as long as
the server doesn't run any custom maps.

All the other stuff - DC, Custom Map days and EoD when we get it we will
have to run with content control off, unless some whizzo works out how
to create a CRC to allow those mods.

Yes provided they have a CRC which specifically allows your mod/map/whatever.


Haven't got a clue! I'm assuming a file which specifies that x mod is
OK.
