Default Civ 2

My wife loves to play Civ2 how ever because computers are a lot faster
now than when Civ2 came out the game tends to gallop and it is very
difficult to get the space ship landed before 2020
I have the compatibility set at Windows 95 but that doesn't seem to
make any difference
Has anybody any ideas on this subject and any suggestions would be
appreciated

Thanks

Bevan

Its turn based. Why does the speed of the computer make a difference??

Thanks for the reply Colin
I do not know the answer to that question maybe it isn't the speed of
the computer maybe its the operating system Win95 to WinXP but one
thing I am sure of there is a difference, what it appears to happen is
that each turn consumes more years than it used to so that no matter
how hard you try by 2020 you haven't even got your space ship built

I think that XP requires more memory than W95. You should have 2 gigs
or else the OS is constenly wring and reading from ( I can't remember
the name) the file it creates when it's short on ram. Make sure WinXP
is set on managing it;s own memory.

Yes I have 2 gig of memory and XP is set to manage its own memory
its a bit of a mystery but after all Civ2 has been around for a long
time and many things have changed I play Civ4 BTS
Thanks for the suggestion

Civ4 is good. I don't have BTS, but I hear good things about it. (It
just adds more countries or something like that). Maybe you should
defragment? Restore point first
