Default C&C released in 11/95

Does this mean that C&C could be considered the pioneer of the RTS genre,
and that all games continue to be based on it?

< 11/95 p 108 >

The first C&C rec'd a score of 91% and a PC Gamer Editors' Choice award.
The familiar term "C&C-style RTS" would soon follow.

No,

Dune (also from Westwood) was published before C&C.
C&C was based on Dune.

In article <c4nuoc$6i6$03$1@news.t-online.com>, but only after serious
contemplation, Raymond Del Tondo <RDelT@gmx.de> put finger to keyboard
and produced the following;

Close - but no cigar. ;-}

Dune wasn't (strictly) an RTS. Dune II is the game that pioneered the
genre.

Hi Aido and Chas ,

thanks for the correction.

Yes, it seems I meant DuneII .
Shame on me:-)

Years ago I showed one of my favourite games (C&C TD) to my wife,
and she said it reminded her of that Dune game
she played on her Amiga in the early nineties.
So I only had the word 'Dune' in mind...

No probs Raymond.
I also had the game called Dune, It was more of an adventure game, It
was related to Dune II in that it was based on the same planet.

Aido.
