Ok, I got it. What confused me was why they had fixes and patches down
2 levels. The usual path to follow is the release of the main install.
Then follow up with a patch. After that, release another main install
with all the benefits of the patch included and other fixes.

But this had 2 patches so I was wondering whether the main install
contains all improvements of the patches and fixes or do I have to
install them as well.

Well, I can only guess that most of the people had already downloaded the
original release, so it would have been hard for them to re-download the
whole mod from the beginning.

It does not. So the order would be: C2, then C2P, then the Patch, then the
Hotfix. A bit confusing... but not really.

Well, I have installed all files and fixes and still I need to use two rifle
shots to kill one man.
I still haven't used allied weaponry, only German.

The actual settings, plus that I loved the missions from the beginning made
me glued upon this game.
With C2 the game went alot firther and with C3 (and the hotkeys' patch)
the graphics and the gaming experience were purely great.

That's what stealth is all about

You mean the mission where you have to blow up the bridge?
Because I don't think that is possible. You have to eliminate enemies on
both sides.

Or do you mean the other one where you need to save it?

So...there might be something wrong with my install? Iakovos

Yeah, they should maybe reprise some of the older environments from
the 2 games and put them in a C2 engine. I simply loved the BEL
missions (although some of them were okish) and the BTCOD missions
were great as well (loved the last one, in Holland). Thats why I
played both games over 6 times each :P

Oh man...just talking about it makes me wanna play them. But they run
too fast on my comp now. And no amount of slowing down makes them the
correct pace.

That's why I started played DP. A sense of nostalgia about commandos

Isn't there a turbo boost utility to slow the game down at the appropriate setting?

When C:BEL came out I had a Pentium II 333, 6 GB, 2 Mb Trident card and a
Soundblaster 64 original.
I was lucky because both CBEL and CBTCOD were constructing for that graphics
card.
I was even able to play the Commandos 2 game on that old machine, which
prolongued its life a little bit.
But now I am more than comfortable with my new machine (for C3, CSF etc.).

The idea forced on you of having to rely on all your men, and getting them
out all alive and well,
that was something not accomplished before. And a great idea it was at that
time.

Afterwards it was a race for me for my troops not to be shot at all in C2.
My own kind of attitude as a tribute to CBEL and BTCOD.

As always, the commandos series would have had a larger fanbase if we were
given mod creators to toy with.

Germans alive where?

Ok, I'll do that ASAP. Btw, I don't mind it at all killing with two shots,
never bothered me as I mostly used stealth.

Yes, all commandos are on the bridge without killing. How to do this?

Have Tiny and the Driver crawl to the south east. Then crawl to the south.
Let Marine and Sapper follow so all four closely together can crawl
behind the guard walking to the north west. The guard waits a little while
at his most northern point. At the same time the group to the west will
pass. That's the moment you move to the north.
Go to the east of the bunker (next to the bridge) and do it when the guards
on the river bank are walking away (north east).

When the bunker's Field of View turns toward you and disappears, stand up
and run. You can be on the bridge before the FoV catches you. The guards on
the bank saw me just when the men dropped to crouch and came to investigate
(they didn't fire). Don't wait for them to come on the bridge just have the
Sapper destroy the bunker with a grenade and move on. There will be no
alarm in the north.

Try it, I think you'll like it :-)

I used to play all those games on my P II 233, 32 MB Ram, 2 MB no name
card and an ESS audiocard (which didn't even support full duplex).
After C2 came out, I got 64MB ram for my machine and a Trident 4MB
card. On that, C2 worked pretty ok. Of course, I later dumped that
machine and bought a new one (Phoenix2) and now I have an even better
one (Phoenix3).
