No, actually I'm going to do something different ... I'll wait until Half
Life 2 comes out and then make an informed decision.

More than likely I'll thoroughly enjoy the game, just as I'm enjoying the
hell (no pun intended) out of Doom3.

I think Doom3 is certainly a good game, but what I have seen from HL2 shows
that at least the Source engine FAR FAR FAR superior to the Doom3 engine.
Sure the graphics LOOK fine in Doom3, but shoot a PC in Doom3 and ... no
matter what weapon you use, the screens seem to be made of titanium. In fact
everything except the monsters seems to be made of titanium. I expect HL2 to
simply outclass Doom3 on the physics part: using the 3D world to the full
extent to kill the enemy, that looks like fun to me.

Another thing is that everything in Doom 3 is scripted. HL2 promises to be
different.

Doom3 however IS a good game and offers great gameplay. I hope HL2 will do
the same... because of course trailers and footage does not say anything.

Me too. I just saw that article and figured that from a technical
viewpoint it may be neutral. Nothing to mention about gameplay - you
can't comment about that til you play the game.

I too am enjoying Doom3, but am looking forward to HL2 - I was going to
say I can't _wait_ for HL2, but I changed my mind because of the obvious
....

There are plenty of screenies floating around from CS:Source showing
physics **** ups just as bad as Doom3's.

Yeah, sure. Don;t be suprised when it is scripted, possibly not as
obvious as Doom3's monster closets but still.

I think both will go down as great. I can see a lot of people making the
same mistake they did with Doom3 and building HL2 up to something it may
not be. I think once again a lot of people may be let down simply
because they set expectations to high.
