As much as i do appreciate the fruits of id's artistic department i've
had enough of the splash movie that is played every time Doom 3
starts. The first time viewing it is kind of cool and lends a bit
towards that cinematic feeling of unwanted snipets being aired before
the feature presentation... but once is more than enough! The same
goes for all other games out there with fancy movies that do nothing
other than to waste time and advertise the name of the company who the
gamer is already well aware of. Is there a file i can edit to
disable the playback of id's introductory movie in Doom 3?

Just his 'Esc' key, not that hard. There is a mod to fix this too btw.

Me too. Tron 2.0 has like 4 branding intros, in other words:
commercials. I cant even stop the cut-scene movies in Jedi Academy.
This stuff is really annoying after a while. Luckily there's a solution
for this in Doom 3:

Change your doom.exe shortcut to add +disconnect to stop the heartbeat
animation.

Mine looks like this:

"C:\Program Files\Doom 3\Doom3.exe" +disconnect

In Tron 2.0, the launcher has an options button then disable movies.
Jedi Academy, don't use the launcher at all (this isn't an option with
Tron 2.0), just create two shortcuts to JASP.exe and JAMP.exe and there
are several things you can add, but +disconnect will work too.
so ".../path/Star Wars Jedi Academy/jasp.exe" +g_saberMoreRealistic 3
(that's what mine looks like)
With id/Quake 3 engine games usually adding any +command or cvar to the
command line will take you to the menu on start up. Even bogus
commands, if you add +doodoo to the executable you'll end up at the
menu. Doom 3 is a little different, I found that if you have
com_allowConsole 1 set then adding anything else but disconnect will
open the console up at start up, which is almost as annoying as the id
logo movie.
